ANNE SMITH

Anne a wonderful lady who served the Lord faithfully here at the Congregational Church for well over 50 years. I have been at the church for about 50years and Anne was already here worshipping every Sunday. When I first knew her, she and her friend and colleague owned Goslings Farm up Sheepcotes Lane where they had a small herd of milking cows. Anne has worn many hats during her time at the church. She was very hard working and dedicated. Her faith in God shone through in all her duties even in her frailty she was still very interested and knowledgeable. Anne has been a wonderful friend to me and my family over the years. I could write a book! I will miss her immensely, her friendship and her spirituality as we shared our faith together on many a journey discussing all sorts of things. We give God thanks that she died peacefully in the quiet at home and we can be assured Anne is now with the Lord in heaven.

Well done, good and faithful servant! Matthew 25:23

Please remember all of Anne s family at this time.

Valerie

Another sadness to share our friend Valerie from Coffee Morning died suddenly a couple of weeks ago. She was such a lovely friendly lady who had come along to coffee morning and knit and natter making new friends. She was very friendly and would chat with everyone so she soon fitted in and was very much at home in the church. Please do remember Valerie s son Matthew at this time. It has been a terrible shock for him and the family. We ask that God will be with them and give them comfort and a sense of his peace.

News & thanks

February came and went very fast, the wet weather has been atrocious, our garden has been a swimming pool, so water logged. But we have got off lightly when you see on the news other poor people who have been flooded or got stuck in their cars in flood water. We did however manage to have some fun on Shrove Tuesday with our Mini Pancake Races and Pass the Pancakes around the table. Followed by Mandy s quizzes, being also Valentine s day she did both themes for her quiz. Mandy is amazing I don t know where she finds all the questions. Thank you Mandy, and well done to all the prize winners of a Lemon. I hope you all enjoyed your pancakes at home! Thanks very much for all those helpers at coffee and chat who covered Denise whilst she had duties elsewhere. I would like to thank Judith especially taking a leading roll along with Gloria and many others helping Mandy. Thank you all

Church Meeting

At our recent church meeting it was agreed to paint the church outside. We can only afford to paint the actual church at the moment, but the members and supporters think it needs smartening up and look like the buildings are well cared for. This work is likely to start in May. We are going to start a gift box if anyone wishes to donate money towards this project. Thank you

Jesus replied; Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind, This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself.

Matthew 22:37-39

Father God we thank you for this fellowship. We thank you for our building, which is warm and welcoming. Thank you that we can meet together as your children to worship and praise You. What a privilege that is. We thank You for Your love and continued goodness towards us. Lord please bless this village and all who belong to You. We pray for the other churches that meet in Your name. Help us all to work together to show your love, mercy and grace. Amen

We pray for all who are grieving, we especially think of Anne and Valerie s families. May they know a special touch of comfort and peace from God as they go through difficult days ahead.

We lift prayers of Hope & Healing for: Michael, Jean, Norma, Ted, Barbara, & Jacob.

We continue to keep in our prayers, Doreen, Judy & David, Brenda, Val & Geoff, Iris and Shelia, we miss them, being unable to be part of our fellowship due to age and mobility. May the Lord bless each one.

We would pray especially for all conflict that is going on in the World. Immediately we think of Israel and the Gaza strip, Ukraine and Russia and the worrying involvement of Iran supplying weapons to both Russia, Hamas and the Houthi s. There is trouble with the shipping being attacked. There is so much that we actually never hear about especially the persecution of Christians in places like Nigeria. These problems are vast and we must not forget to pray for all, especially as tensions escalate. We pray for solutions to be found and a peaceful end.

Please keep the Government in your prayers and all in Parliament in these very troubling times. We pray for all Christians in Parliament that they will seek God s guidance in all their undertakings.
