Keeping in Touch
Sunday Services at 6.30pm
A Very Warm Welcome

Romans 12:4-5 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

Hello, September is suddenly upon us and almost equally the calendar for the church fills up with groups returning to their meetings and of course our Special Services for the Harvest Thanksgiving. We have so much to be very thankful for, we must cherish our farmers, I heard some very shocking facts a couple of weeks ago that in the 1980 s our Country was 80% self sufficient and now I think they said we are only 30% self sufficient. I can see the

difference going to North Devon every year there are less and less cows and sheep in the fields. The church supported the Farming Community Network last year who work and support farmers all over the Country. Many farmers are struggling to hold on to their farms that have been in their families for generations. Cheap imported meat and the price of fertilizers have taken a huge chunk out of their income. They are not allowed to spread manure over their fields like they use to because of laws we have signed into . There is a high suicide rate amongst farmers who can no longer cope. Please remember to be so thankful!! We take so much for granted and perhaps always try to buy British, which I know is not always easy.

THANK YOU s

As always I am very thankful to all of you for your support during this past month. It has been great that we could continue our services throughout the month with a couple of do it ourselves which made a change. Also for everyone who has mucked in over August with Coffee and Chat, it has been nice to see so many still coming along each week. Thank you, Daphne for helping me with the church wooden floors and sealing them for another few months. This is a big job but it is important that we maintain the floors as best we can. Daphne has also been working hard in the garden at the church, cutting the big hedge and keeping everything tidy also Duncan next door who trims up the front hedge for us. We are so blessed to have so many people to keep everything going.

EXTERIOR CHURCH PAINTING Gift Fund

The church has decided to go ahead and paint the rest of the buildings, they will possibly be starting in October. We are very pleased with how nice the church is looking from the front and we want to try and keep the property as well maintained as possible. Of course this comes at a cost! We are hoping that people will please donate to help keep our doors open. Many people and groups use the buildings here and we need everyone to appreciate how fortunate they are to be able to come and use the facilities. We know that most people these days live in a cashless society, so to enable people easily donate a gift of money to the church I include the churches bank details. There will also be a cash donation box in the church. We thank everyone who has previously contributed to this fund earlier in the year.

Will your Anchor hold in the Storms of Life?

Anchors hold ships safely, keeping them from being wrecked on rocks, buffeted by storms and drifting with currents. Sometimes boats come to land and someone carries the anchor up the beach to a strong fixed place so the vessel doesn t float back out to sea.

Our anchor, our hope of eternal life in the glorious presence to the King of kings is secured in heaven! When Jesus died, the curtain to the holiest part of the Temple was ripped from top to bottom opening the way for us. Rising and ascending, He went ahead to prepare our eternal home.

Hebrews 6:18-20 (NLT) We who have fled to Him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God s inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us.

Back to School: Pray for a blessing upon every child, young person and adult returning to school, Uni for the new academic year. The Lord knows about all the individuals, their aspirations, concerns, abilities, struggles and joys. Please ask the Lord to protect, guide, encourage and strengthen them. Remember too all those who work in schools, from a nursery level in all positions.

Our harvest has been safely gathered in. Give thanks to God for a bountiful harvest again this year, for our wonderful planet that the Lord sustains and for all who provide and grow the food we eat. We are so blessed.

Pray for all those struggling with their health. We know there are quite a few people who are attached to the church who fall into this category. Please pray for one another, we don t always realise how people are feeling or what concerns they may have. We keep in our prayers Charles, Barbara, Pat, Iris, Doreen, Judy and David, Val and Geoff and Shelia. We lift them all to the Lord for his love, help and care.

Psalm 116:1-2

I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.
