Do something AMAZING today!! How do we change the world?

One single act of kindness at a time

THANKS & NEWS

Everything at church is back in full swing and it is good to see all the activities taking place in our buildings and hopefully all renewed after the summer holidays. We have so much to be thankful for personally and as a nation, despite all that is going on in our Country at this time. You have all been so generous! Thank you very much for so many wonderful tins, packs and produce you have donated for our Harvest Services. The church looked splendid with such a variety of food from all over the World. HomeStart who received all the harvest gifts were overwhelmed with your generosity. They asked me to pass on their thanks and Janet who came to collect said she would be taking the perishable goods straight out to the families they work with locally. The offerings received at our two services totalled just over 100 so that will be given away also to the Farming Community Network who work closely with farming families who are struggling with the pressure of keeping their farms going in these difficult times. If you missed our Harvest Services you missed all the artwork the Silver Tots did as part of our display and also the amazing decorated Harvest Wreaths and Squirrels which the Rainbows did. All the artwork was so beautiful and reminded us of God s goodness, that we so easily forget. A huge thank you to everyone and all who supported our services.

Anne s Rose Garden thanksgiving service was truly delightful. Malcolm led this tribute to Anne and gave thanks for her life and dedicated the Rose Garden and the two Apple Trees given in her memory from the Parish Council. The memorial plaque in Anne s honour was placed surrounded by the roses. It was great to see so many of Anne s family come along as well as many of our church speakers who came too. Anne being the very humble person she was, wouldn t have wanted any fuss, but Anne touched so many people over the years with her kindness, hard work and dedication to the Congregational church fellowship and people of this village. The weather was perfect and the garden looked really lovely due to a number of people, namely Daphne. Martin who cuts the grass and a huge shout out for Dave who has kept the roses, plants and trees all watered throughout this very, very dry summer. Thank you!

Big Shout Out and thank you to Denise Clark our catering manager as I call her. She has stepped in and organised all the refreshments for Anne s thanksgiving and also the harvest breakfast alongside coffee and chat every Tuesday. We must not forget all the others who help Denise, especially Mandy, Gloria and Dave (Marigold) Thanks to everyone who made cakes and pitched in for all the recent events too.

Thank you Mandy for organising the Macmillan Coffee Morning once again this year. We had lots of fun with guess the weight of the cake, how many currants in a jar. Name the soft toy and loads of yummy cakes and sweet delights. I felt very greedy as I had a plate full and as the saying goes my eyes were bigger than my belly but I ploughed my way through and they were all so delicious. Keith Ives s homemade plum jam was on sale and all but one jar has gone. Debbie also entertained us with 2 games of Call my Bluff which was great fun. So thank you to everyone who came and made cakes and donated to such a worth whiles cause. Money is still coming in so we are not sure of the final total, but it will be over 300.00. So thank you all very much for your support.

PRAYER

The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, and prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil. Mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray .

(Samuel Chadwick, Wesleyan Methodist minister 1860-1932)

Thank You, Lord, for every opportunity to pray together in church, at home, online through prayer diaries. Encourage Christians to intercede for their ministries for those in need. Please help us to pray effectively in the power of Your Spirit. Amen

We give thanks for our Harvest Thanksgiving services, we pray for and ask your blessing on those who came along, may they and their families be touched by You. We give thanks for the gifts made to Home-Start. We pray that the families who receive this food will also be blessed. Bless the work of FCN for their valuable work which they are doing with farming families who find themselves in difficulties.

Please pray for our unstable world. We give thanks for the freedom we still have in this Country although it feels like this is being taken away gradually. We pray especially for those who live in fear and persecution. We remember the ongoing war in Ukraine the Israel and Gaza conflict the persecution of Christians throughout the World especially in Nigeria at his time. I know you will have special thoughts and prayers about our own Country. We pray for the Jewish community who feel threatened and scared. Lord be with the families of those who were murdered this week in Birmingham.

Remember to pray for our Police Force and Special forces who keep our Country safe, also our Fire and Rescue and Paramedics and Ambulance service who serve us all and we pray for those in charge that they will make the right choices in their duties.

Please keep in your prayers all from this fellowship and beyond who are known to you and are needing prayers of hope, and healing in their struggles .with pain, illness, mobility, and grief.
