NEWS AND THANKS

What wonderful Harvest Thanksgiving Service took place here on the last Sunday in September. It was great to be reminded of how good God is and how we must never take it for granted. The church looked great and it was good to follow our traditional theme. Thank you very much to those who brought gifts to decorate our church and also to pass on to needy families locally through HOMESTART. They were absolutely delighted with all of the provisions collected. A very big thank you to Gloria who came to help decorate the church and dismantle the display on Monday morning. Anne also played her part in this, coming and supervising and providing the greenery, berries and sheaves. Of course thanks also go too everyone who helped in the kitchen at the morning and evening services. The harvest loaf and cheese went down particularly well after the evening service. We are also delighted to have sent a cheque to the Farming Community Network for 200 from our monetary offering. They do great work supporting farming families.

A Special Thank You. to Mandy and Denise for organising a very successful MacMillan Coffee Morning. They raised 215.04 which is amazing and with the help of many who made delicious cakes and took part in the quizzing games. Mandy always comes up with some fun games for us to play.

Thank you to those of you who attended the AGM Church meeting. It is always such an encouragement to see and hear people s ideas or to just attend. Overall it was an encouraging meeting with plans in place for the rest of this year. We are very thankful that God is good, without the help and kindness of so many, our church doors would have to close. Please pray for this fellowship as the dark nights draw in and people are unable to support our Sunday services. We do pray for those who would dearly love to come, but driving at night prevents this. The AGM minutes and the church report are pinned at the back of the church on the notice board if you would like to read them.

A Prayer for the Month of October: Lord Jesus please bless Your people in Silver End. May they be filled with Your love and the Spirit of God, as they seek to follow and serve You. We pray that Your church might grow as Your Holy Spirit prepares the hearts of men, women and children. Protect them we pray, from the evil one who is out to destroy lives. We ask Lord that you would send workers to move into the village to work alongside other Christians to bring about the furtherance of Your Kingdom to the Glory of God. Amen

God Sent us a Saviour

If our greatest need had been information. God would have sent us an educator.

If our greatest need had been technology. God would have sent us a scientist.

If our greatest need had been money. God would have sent us a economist.

If our greatest need had been pleasure. God would have sent us an entertainer

But our Greatest need was forgiveness. So God sent us a Saviour.

May you see and know anew how great His love is toward you.

Our Prayers

The rain and snow come down from heaven and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.

Isaiah 55:10,11 (NLT)

Give Thanks O Lord my God when I in awesome wonder consider all thy hand has made. I see the stars and hear the mighty thunder, thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Pray for our World: Where there has been terrible destruction through earthquakes in Morocco and storms and floods in Greece and New York. We should never take for granted how blessed we are.

Please pray for our schools and young people as just this past week we hear about the tragic deaths of two young schoolgirls. Both girls died in different circumstances, but equally tragic and heartrending. Pray especially for their families and their community. Ask for God s protection on our young people, and guidance for all who work with them in schools, clubs and groups,

We pray for families here in our village but also in surrounding villages and towns. There will be many who will be finding things very tough and worried about the winter months ahead. Please pray especially for your neighbours and families that live around you and help where you can.

Please pray for this fellowship, we pray and give thanks for all our visiting speakers and for others who support this church. We ask for protection as God s Word is spread.

God of grace and truth, thank You for Your Word; living and active . discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. May it bring about repentance, hope and transformation as we read, study, memorise and meditate. In Jesus name. Amen

Please continue to pray for those who are finding life difficult for all sorts of reasons - Grief, Illness, depression, worry, loneliness, pain, lack of help and mobility. May they be aware that you Lord are with them in all situations. Please comfort and support all who reach out to You gracious Father.

When you can t put your prayers into words God hears your heart.

Romans 8:26
