Looking ahead to DECEMBER

Sun 5th    Christingle Service – This starts at 4pm Come along with all the family for a cuppa and cake. Make your own Christingle and then join in with the service at 5pm where we will all light our Christingles together. Led by Mrs. Carol Hutchings and the Guiding Units.

Hello, Just an update to keep you all informed on what has been happening. October has proved to be a very busy month for the church and all the activities that happen in the church and halls. It has been truly wonderful to see things returning to normal. We are aware that there are those who are still catching Covid within the village it is mostly our young people. Steps have been taken by those affected to alleviate the risk.

At our recent church meeting we agreed to buy a Memorial Bench for the Rev. John Parker and Lyn. We are asking for donations towards this. If anyone would like to donate please give their donation to Sharon our Treasurer. Many Thanks.

Margaret Martin is collecting old Christmas Cards, she knows a lady who uses them to make new cards for people who cannot afford to buy them. She would be pleased for any you may wish to donate. We will have a box in the church for collection.

A suggestion has been made that the table we have in the church at coffee and chat with books and bric-a-brac be made into a ‘Bring and Buy’ so as to not to be left with items that no-one needs or wants. The table is quite a popular feature and allows us to bring things along that someone might find useful. All the money that comes into the Coffee and Chat morning is given away to local charity, or used for donation toward extra church expenses.

We are sure you will be pleased to know that we have sent a cheque to Malcolm to say a big thank you for his continued help until we were able to open the church again. We also sent some flowers for Pauline who has telephoned people on a regular basis and this has been very much appreciated by the fellowship.

We will not be doing our Festival of Christmas Trees this year, but instead we are happy to decorate outside in the front garden if any groups would like to help.

Coffee and Chat has been busy making a Poppy Wreath for Remembrance Day. Thank you to all those who have contributed their skills in knitting beautiful poppies, all so different, or colouring in, making collage poppies providing wool for the knitters. It is looking really great. Thank you. Looking ahead to December the last Coffee and Chat before the New Year will be Tuesday 14th December on that morning Denise is making it a special Christmas Brunch with some festive extras. David has offered to make us a fruit cake for that day. Watch this space‼

PRAYERS

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”                     1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

So  much to pray for this month. Where does one start? The shocking Murder of a local MP Sir David Amess. We lift his family, friends and constituents in Leigh on Sea in our prayers. This Country needs our prayers, we are changing as a Nation and not in a good way. Life is cheap, young people being stabbed to death everyday and Sir David being killed within a church is shocking. We give thanks that he was a man of faith and demonstrated that to all who knew him. We pray for healing and recovery in that part of Southend. We remember too Her Majesty the Queen, we forget her age and great service to this Country. We thank God that she has her faith in God to sustain her. As the numbers for the Covid Virus are going up again, help us not to be fearful. We are very fortunate to have the vaccine and have the opportunity to have the booster when called. We know that this something that we will all have to live with and we ask God to keep this fear that is promoted in perspective.

Please continue to pray for each other. So many with ongoing problems, for themselves or for others. The Lord knows those in our hearts, we pray for healing, restoration, acceptance and peace.

We pray for Rev. Paul Watkin and his family as they make a big move to Tadcaster in the York Diocese. We send him and the family our love and prayers. Please pray for St Francis and St. Mary’s Rivenhall as they begin this time of interregnum.

Keep all our friends from the other Christian churches in our village in your prayers. We are so blessed that we can all come together as one. Remembrance Day: As we come to remember all those who have died or injured whilst serving this Country. We also pray for the work of the Royal British Legion which supports individuals and those families who have suffered loss.

We will Remember Them.
