YOU DID SILVER END PROUD
WOW! Didn t we have a wonderful evening on the 17th April celebrating our village turning 100 years. It was truly amazing to see so many people come along and support this community. The estimate was over 400 adults and children. What a wonderful spectacle, beautiful weather, a thanksgiving prayer for our past, present and future offered by Rev. Jane and then onto the memorial gardens where Mr. Crittall s Grandson dedicated the new Tori Arch and his own Granddaughter cut the ribbon. Everyone made their way afterwards to the Congregational Church for refreshments. Wow, Wow, Wow The ladies in the kitchen were run off their feet. They did a magnificent job. At the same time BreakFill 4 Band and the Silver Singers started entertaining a full church with songs through the decades. The whole evening could not have worked out better. It had been a lot of work by so many people decorating the church with all the knitted bunting thanks to Knit & Natter. Also other bunting that had all been handmade by our hall users which looked so beautiful decorating the halls. Silver Tots had produced a fantastic Wall Hanging which is hung in the small hall. Please go and take a look if you didn t get to see it. Thank you to those that helped put up all the decorations inside and outside the church. We did ourselves proud. All the Dignitaries made favourable comments and enjoyed chatting to people and joining in with everything. The special 100th Birthday Cake was cut and thank you to everyone who made all those Cakes, we couldn t believe they all got eaten! The tables looked lovely with the fresh flowers that Daphne had arranged and then more flowers came in from Sarah's Seasonal Flowers, she had arranged them in Crittall colours. The Chairman of Braintree District Council was asked to open the Time Capsule and the children were very eager to see what was inside. It was good to see so many youngsters come along. Dan Sutton the Scout Leader took part in the Parade, but took his group back to the Headquarters as they had a planned camp that evening. They enjoyed their own 100th Birthday cake so that the youngsters didn t miss out. We need to thank so many people who made this wonderful event such a success.
On Sunday 19th April we continued celebrating with our church service being a Celebration in Song focusing on our local school and for the generation of pupils who have attended the school and still live in the village. The church was packed out about 70 people! With the legendary Mrs. Jeanette Duncan on the piano singing school assembly favourites and many ex teachers, TA s and lunchtime staff coming along. What made it so special was that Mr. John Jemison came too, he was teacher and Head Teacher and it was great to see him looking so well and he hadn t changed a bit. It was a truly wonderful evening of treasured memories and thanksgiving to God for all His provision to us personally and for our memories and for our future. A big thank you once again for Denise and Mandy and all the other hands who mucked in serving the refreshments. They have all worked so hard. Thank you

Our Thoughts, Prayers & Praises
May, such a beautiful month, the abundance and beauty of colour all around. So many shades of green, all so lush and new. Thank you for the bird song and activity. We praise God for the seasons and the joy of His creation all around.
Father God we thank you for the opportunities of serving You. Help us to share love, friendship and pray for those in need. We especially pray for Your church here in Silver End, for our friendships with other Christians as we share love and fellowship.
We remember Mary Niamh and all of Pat Mulholland s family. We give thanks for Pat and for all she meant to so many. We give thanks that some of us were able to go to Pat s funeral. It was a very special and moving service. Please pray for all the family at this time.
We continue to remember those who are grieving, especially Hazel s family and friends and also Ellen s friends and her niece, and Doreen s family. May they know a special touch of comfort and peace from God as they go through difficult days ahead.
We also lift before God those who continue to struggle and need our love, help and encouragements. We think of David who is beginning to recover some strength and Judy, Val , Sheila, Carol who is facing yet another operation. Margaret has now got her own wheelchair and will be able to go outside on occasions when the weather is suitable. We continue to hold others in our prayers, Gillian, Brenda, Iris, and Erica. May the Lord bless and help each one.
We give you thanks for our families, friends, Neighbours and our village. Lord, please speak to the hearts and minds of people living in this village and around our area.
We pray for our Country, for Parliament. For the wars that are going on, please bring solutions and peace.
