Ephesians 6:11-12

Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

A really big thank you to Jane who helped me seal the hall floors this past week during half term. Thanks too to Allan who came to help with all the heavy lifting clearing the halls ready to be cleaned before the sealing. Allan then returned the furniture, ready for the Rangers to meet on Friday evening. All went well to plan, and Jane worked very hard mopping all the varnish onto the floors. The floor was in quite a bad way this time, please help look after it.

Just to let you know Eileen Ayres is now permanently in bed. Her frailty, dementia and osteoporosis, which has caused her to be bent over for many months, the Doctor and Physio has recommended that she would be much more comfortable in bed. She is in a special bed so that she does not get bed sores and can sit up for food and drink. I have visited Eileen a couple of times and she is quite bright and chatty. It is sad to see her, but she is much more comfortable and well looked after. Please remember Eileen in your prayers.

Again this month: For thought and Contemplation

Who can tell the far reaching effects of prayer?

Pray on – your persistent praying can produce results you never dreamed possible.

‘This is the confidence we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of him.’                                          (1 John 5:14-15)

Suggested Prayers

Thank God for signs that spring is on its way. We are already seeing the days becoming longer and the spring bulbs and flowers making such a splash of colour, especially on the many dull days we have had this past month.

We pray for all those throughout our Country who have had their homes and livelihoods destroyed by the recent floods. We cannot really imagine how this feels unless we have experienced it ourselves. We pray that they will receive all the support and help they need to recover from this devastation. We pray that the local churches will be a beacon of God’s love and practical help.

Lord during Lent, may we be renewed spiritually, as perhaps we spend more time studying your Word or giving ourselves to do something special for you.

Lord Jesus Christ, as we prepare our hearts for Easter and reflect on our need for Your never-ending forgiveness and grace, please help us to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly before You. May we speak and live in ways that honour the poor and encourage all who follow in Your ways.

Lord we lift our Country before you.

’Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance. From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind; from his dwelling-place he watches all who live on earth – he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do.’                          Psalm 33:12-15 (NIV)

Please, keep praying for this fellowship and the other churches, pray for your neighbours, friends and relatives and all who live here. This month we especially pray for the people who live in Daniel Way, Joseph Gardens, Abraham Drive, Rachael Gardens and Rebecca Gardens. Lord help us to share our faith, may our lives radiate Your love and truth.

Please keep in your prayers those known to you, from our fellowship and village, who are ill and those in grief, pain, anxiety and physical frailties. We would lift before you Sheila and Eileen.

‘Jesus says: “Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Matthew 11:28-29 NIV
