I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will show forth all thy marvellous works. Psalm 9:1

THANKS & NEWS

Well folks, here we are 2026 is here with what we hope and trust will be a good year ahead. There is a hymn that we sing, which is very thought provoking and comforting.

I do not know what lies ahead, the way I cannot see; yet one stands near to be my guide, He ll show the way to me; I know who holds the future, and He ll guide me with His hand; with God things don t just happen, everything by Him is planned. So as I face tomorrow, with its problems large and small, I ll trust the God of miracles, give to Him my all.

What wonderful reassurance to know, whatever happens we can come to God and He will never leave us or forsake us.

News

Just a few updates. I have popped in to see Val and Geoff. Val is still at the lodge and is likely to stay there for sometime as she is needing a lot of physiotherapy

and care. Geoff says that she has some good days when she is more chatty, but often very tired when he visits. He thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers for Val and the family. Before Christmas I also managed to pop in on Margaret Martin, she was being very well cared for at St. Georges, Witham. Margaret is finding it hard to settle into her new environment. Please pray for Margaret, Brian and family. Pat Maholland is being cared for in a care home, but we are not sure where she is. Carol Wright thanks us for remembering her in our prayers. She has a pre-op appointment on the 7th Jan, so is hoping and praying that all goes to plan. Carol has been given some stronger pain killers which are helping her to be able to move around a little easier. I have also heard that Terry who comes to Coffee & Chat is home from hospital and is out and about on his scooter. Unfortunately his ex wife is very poorly and is in hospital. She has been very supportive to Terry and now she herself has failing health. Please pray for all these folk.

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

THANKS

As always, thank you all very much for helping and supporting the Congregational Church and myself. We had a very busy and joyful December. Thank you, Jeanette, for playing a few carols assisted by Debbie at Coffee & Chat to begin our Advent journey. Thank you to the Tuesday Gang for the Christmas party much enjoyed by us all. A big shout out to Tom, John and Rebecka who entertained us with a sing-a-long and dance. It was a lovely way to finish our Coffee & Chat year off. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the wonderful buffet lunch, it was all delicious. You are so very generous, thank you all.

Our Christmas services were a delight. Thank you Carol for leading and arranging the Christingle Service, also for funding all the oranges, sweets etc needed to make our Christingles. It is always so nice to see families come along to share this service. A collection was taken for the Children s Society. Thank you to Denise, Dave and Gloria who manned the kitchen and sorted out all the refreshments for this service.

Both Carol Services and the Christmas Day service saw some new people come along, which was wonderful and encouraging. Each service was unique. From fun, jolly and informal, to reflective and awesome as we sang carols and listened to the story and purpose of Jesus birth.

O sing unto the Lord a new song; for He hath done marvellous things: His right hand, and His holy arm, hath gotten Him the victory. Psalm 98:1

New Year Prayer

Heavenly Father, as a new year begins, please grant us the mercy and grace that we need for every single day. We cannot live without You so give us an increasing desire to know You more that we may fulfil Your purposes in and through our lives. In Jesus name. Amen

We give God thanks for His encouragements last year and we look to Him to give us light to shine for Him, wisdom and direction to do His will this New Year. Please pray for this village and His church here.

Many people have suffered terrible tragedies in our Country and over the world. There have been acts of terrorism, murders, house fires, and now the terrible fire killing so many in Switzerland at the New Year s party. Plus awful floods, earthquakes, wars, starvation the list is endless. It breaks your heart to hear and read about such events and all the people involved. Please pray for them and this World.

Please remember all the young people returning to Nurseries, Schools, Colleges and Universities. Pray for them as their lives are shaped by our Education system. Lord please protect them from anything that is not honouring to You. Pray for all the teaching staff, lecturers, and chaplains. Please continue to pray for EMPOWER (CYO) who work in our local schools.

We Keep in prayer people from this fellowship and village who need to be upheld. Pray for Val, Margaret, Erica, Brenda, Shelia, Doreen, Judy, Iris, Barbara, Carol, Terry . We lift each one to the Lord and others known to us who are struggling with disability, pain and mental

health problems, Lord bless and help each one.

For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say No to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age. Titus 2:11-12 NIV
