‘Jesus said unto him, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Matt.22:37-40 (KJV)

SPECIAL THANK YOU’S!!!
We owe a huge thank you to Samantha and all the guide leaders for the superb Christmas Breakfast they put on for everyone. They had worked so hard to prepare the room and get a nice Christmassy atmosphere. I think I can say that everybody enjoyed their breakfast. Bacon rolls and Croissants what more could you want? Hopefully we can repeat this another time.
We also had a wonderful evening with the CongChord choir on the same day. Thank you to everyone for providing such a good supper for all to enjoy.
CHRISTMAS
Thank you, to Sarah and Keira who decorated the Christmas tree in the church. The church looked really lovely. Also, thank you to all the readers at the Candle Lit Carol Service and the Choir for singing. It was good to see some new faces at the Christmas Services this year. £200 will be sent to ‘Tools with a Mission’ from the offerings that day.
‘I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us’ Philippians 3:13,14
Lord of all time and space, we commit this New Year to You and offer our lives to serve You wherever You may lead us. Please strengthen us in our resolve to finish the race set before us, that one day we shall hear You say, ‘well done, good and faithful servant!’ Amen
We pray for those who fear losing their jobs as we face uncertainty in this Country because of the economic problems.
We ask that the Lord will send down heavenly wisdom from above, to direct and guide all in authority over this Nation and the World.
Please pray for Debbie who has had a lung transplant. Things haven’t gone as well as hoped, she has had a number of set backs. Please remember the donor family as they grieve the loss of their loved one.
Keep in your prayers the new rector for St. Francis and St. Mary’s, Rivenhall. We pray that all the churches in the two Parishes may work together for God’s glory.
At the start of this New Year we would bring before the Lord, our Queen Elizabeth, at the beginning of her Diamond Jubilee year. We are deeply thankful for her strong faith in God and her unfailing devotion to duty in our nation and as Head of the Commonwealth.
Pray about the preparations for this summer’s London Olympics and the Paralympic Games, pray for God’s protection and peace over all the proceedings.
Pray that we may serve this community where we live, that we will reach out wherever possible as a fellowship and as indivduals. Pray God grants us faith and vision to use whatever resources and ideas that He has given us to touch lives with the love of Christ.
