THANKS & NEWS
News Update
As I think most of you know Doreen has been discharged from hospital and has gone into Kilkee Lodge in Braintree. She is being accessed and very well cared for by the staff. Her leg has to be dressed regularly and the district nurse is coming in to do that. I visited Doreen last Thursday and she is very content to be there and to be looked after. Doreen has a nice room looking out over Coggeshall Road. She is in room 21 on the ground floor. The Staff are all very friendly and helpful. I had a nice long visit with Doreen, she is always a pleasure to visit. Alan her son has made her room homely for her by putting some family photos around. If anyone would like to visit Doreen I am sure she would be delighted to see you.
Val s Care Home has been out of bounds for a week due to a number of residents with Flu. So Geoff hadn t been able to see her. She herself did have a chest infection so that was a bit of a concern. I can update you all that the Home is now open and Geoff said they are trying to get her out of bed into a special adapted chair for short periods.
Margaret unfortunately dislocated her hip and has been back in hospital, fortunately she is now back at St. George s but in a different room, Number 11.
Carol Wright was due to have her operation last week, I do hope that went ahead. She has been in great discomfort and pain.
No one has heard anything about Pat Maholland.
It is great to see Terry back at Coffee and Chat, his wife is slowly recovering from her illness, but please do remember their son Albie, who needs support.
For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
As always, thank you all very much for helping and supporting the Congregational Church and myself. We have started off the New Year with gusto. A big thank you to Debbie & John for providing our Scottish Dancing at our Burns Coffee Morning. Debbie called two dances and also did a fantastic Call my Bluff using some very strange Scottish words with help from Jeanette to pronounce them correctly. It was great fun.
Thank you for all the suggestions and help with the ideas for the Scarecrows for our Summer 100th Event. Thank you Denise for speaking to the groups and asking if they can make us some bunting and other bits and bobs. I think now, Denise is now our Promotion Manager as well as Catering Manager.
We want to decorate the church for the 17th April when the village will be 100. The celebrations on that evening will partly take place at the church. We are hosting the refreshments and opening of our Time Capsule which was created 12 years ago. There will be music from the decades and more details about everything will follow.
As some of you know, the church is going to create a Thanksgiving and Memory Tree. We would like people to write on a card (Postcard Size) something that means something to them about Silver End. A favourite place, Neighbour , Friends, School, Working in the village, special spot, Special Memories of people and things that they used to enjoy in the village. The Thursday Disco has been mentioned to me. Ann Wood at coffee morning remembers the original Co-op which was a department store, but got burned down. Also there was a fire at the Hotel, which is now Valentine House. There are so many changes, Maybe you might like to say something about what you like about the village now. Perhaps you would like to write a poem. I will be providing some cards for you to write on. I am hoping to start this in March so plenty of time to get thinking. I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Psalm 71:3
Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me for you are my rock and my fortress.
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5
We give God thanks for His encouragements, we give Him thanks that He is our strength and refuge, our present help in trouble .God the Lord of hosts is with us evermore!
We give God thanks for the Speakers who come and bring His Word to us each week.
We thank Him, that they are so willing to come over to Silver End for so few in number.
We remember Auschwitz 81 years on. The horror of what happened to the Jewish race was horrendous. We must never, never forget! We pray for the survivors who are left and their families.
We pray for the work of Enpower previously known as C.Y.O they work in schools around our area and do a fantastic job. We pray a blessing on their work and for all who work or volunteer for this special group,
Praying for our World and Country. Lord Have Mercy
We pray for the people of Iran, who have been killed in their thousands. We continue to remember Ukraine, the middle East and many countries with wars and unrest. Please pray for the Persecuted Church so many Christians who are not free to profess their faith openly and face being tortured and imprisoned.
We have many people on our prayer list at this time. With a variety of problems We lift to the Lord, Val, Doreen, Margaret, Carol, Albie, Carolyn and Pat. We continue to remember Brenda, Judy & David, Shelia, Iris, Barbara, Erica, Pat. There are many people who we know that need our prayers for healing physically and mentally.
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. James 4:10
