THANKS & NEWS

November came and went in a flash! Every month is so busy and here we are another year is drawing to a close. Where has 2025 gone?

Firstly I would like to say a big thank you to Mr. Charles deLacy and Dan Sutton for all the work undertaken in making our Remembrance Sunday Service such a memorable occasion once again. Our young people did our village proud, they all looked so smart and were so well behaved. The children are a credit to their parents and all the leaders who give up their time voluntarily every week. Of course there were many others involved in making this such a special service. All involved in the technology, setting out chairs and Tom Denton playing the music. Plus all those who kept all our young people safe on the Parade down to the Village Hall. I had a lot of feedback from people there who were very appreciative of being able to come and pay honour to those who fought and died from this village and for this Country. Our church building Remembrance display inside and out, was widely noted for looking respectful and we have to thank a guy on Facebook, Steve, for providing us with the Union Jack Flags out the front. We were also given a very special handmade Tommy which was displayed inside. Thank you very much Andrew.

Val, Val has left hospital and is being looked after in the Lodge at Hatfield Peveral for 4 weeks as they decide what will be the best way forward for Val s care. She may be allowed home but their bungalow will need to be adapted to allow this to happen. Please do pray for Val and Geoff.

Get your Christmas Jumpers ready for the Coffee & Chat Christmas Party of the 9th. Thank you all for your contributions towards the food. We are looking forward to John and Tom setting our feet a dancing with some jolly Chirstmas tunes.

Christmas is nearly upon us, it seems to get earlier and earlier, but it is always good to see the bright colourful lights around the village to brighten up such dull days. I do hope you will be able to join us at one of the Carol Services in December. Firstly the Christingle and then the Choose Your Own Carols . Which is always a lot of fun. Lastly our Traditional Candlelit Carol Service, which is very special as we approach Christmas. Thank you to those who have offered to read a Lesson for this.

December is the one time of the year when you hear lots of carols being played in our shops and towns also it is nice to hear people singing carols. Carols remind us and tell us about the birth of Jesus. At this time of Advent (preparation) I do hope you will find time to prepare for Him Jesus and think about the true Christmas. Jesus is the Light of the World. We sing a hymn called Shine Jesus Shine. The chorus goes Shine, Jesus, shine, fill this land with the Father s glory; blaze, Spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire. Flow, river, flow flood the nations with grace and mercy; send forth Your word, Lord, and let there be light!

May our lives and our prayers be like lights shining in dark places. And may the Blessing of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Fill our hearts and homes with light this Christmas and in the New Year to Come.

Prayers to Consider

Lord God may we your people who look forward to the coming of Christ experience the joy of salvation and celebrate His coming with love and thanksgiving. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.

We give You thanks for the opportunities we have to share the Love of Jesus this Christmastide as we celebrate His birth.

We remember in our prayers all who will be alone this Christmas, those in hospital, those on the streets, those grieving and will find Christmas a very difficult time.

We remember those who will be working over Christmas in hospitals, care homes, on farms with livestock, the emergency services on land, sea and air. Help us never to take things for granted and to be thankful for all our blessings.

We continue to pray for those who have been caught up by the floods in Spain. There is so much going on in our World. We especially would lift the war in Ukraine which affects us all and Israel and Gaza and all in the Middle East. We do pray that solutions will be found to stop the bloodshed.

Please pray for our Country, for our Government and Parliament. May God have mercy upon us.

Please pray for our dear friends that suffer from Dementia, we pray for those known to us and for those in our local care homes in the village. We pray for all Carers who work in the community and in Residential Homes. We give thanks for them and the work they undertake.

Remember those from our fellowship and friends with special needs, Brenda, Doreen, Shelia, Judy, Val, Iris, Pat, Terry and Carol. We lift them all to the Lord for His love, help and care.

Please pray for this fellowship. Pray that God will bring new opportunities to share the love of Jesus and bring people to the church. We pray for all the groups who use our building and ask a blessing on each one.

Heavenly Father, as a new year begins, please grant us the mercy and grace that we need for every single day.
