Summer Time Specials Sundays 9th 16th 23rd 30th
Summer should be a time filled with joy, friendship and togetherness. Over the Sundays in August we will be doing just that, I hope. These services will be relaxed, informal, joyful and fun. A time of togetherness worshipping and experiencing God s love for all. We look forward to doing something a little different! All are very welcome and there is bound to be Cake!!
It s the holiday month, so no schools, no youth groups meeting throughout August a time for me to perhaps sort out some of the cupboards at the church and generally have a tidy up. One big job I have to do is to try and shampoo the carpet tiles in the church. It has never been tried before but they are beginning to look very marked from spills and cake/biscuits etc.. I will have to see how it goes.
What do you think of this weather? Are you feeling hot, phew? I think it s more the lack of rain really. I love the summer, but everything is just so dry with the drought and despite watering every night it makes no difference. When we have extremes it makes us appreciate how fortunate we are in this country to have a good climate. When we hear of terrible wild fires, droughts in far off places we have no concept of what it must be like for them. We can still turn our taps on and get water without a second thought. Our heart goes out to all who are suffering such loss.
Church Garden. Most of our Scarecrows have gone to good homes but. I really miss them dotted around the church grounds. Doreen s one on the bike will be there for a little longer. Daphne and Dave have been doing a fantastic job in the garden keeping everything watered and Daphne has once again cut all that big hedge along the alley way. We really do appreciate everyone who contributes in many ways to keeping the church such a wonderful part of the community.
Recently at Coffee & Chat we had a Summer Special and were entertained by Tom, on the keyboard and John & Rebecca on the vocals. What a fantastic morning we had singing along to some summertime specials. Having the words displayed on the TV by Dave made it even more fun. We were raising money for Elsie s Steps on this occasion and were very pleased to give Elsie a little to help with her physiotherapy funding.
We have also recently made a donation to Farleigh Hospice, they do such fantastic work with those in palliative care and supporting families. We wanted to remember our dear friend Hazel who died early this year who spent her last days being wonderfully cared for.
The church has sent money via Samaritan s Purse charity who are setting up field hospitals and supplies for people injured in Venezuela after the recent earthquake.
It has been such a tragic month with many people killed in Venezuela and in other tragic circumstances in this Country with Murders, car accidents, and those drowned the list goes on ..We can add people we know locally who are grieving the loss of loved ones.
Holidays: If you are able to have a holiday or have recently had one I do hope and pray that it has been a real time of blessing and a welcome change. For those who are unable to go away I hope that you may enjoy a special visit from family, maybe a day out or a picnic in the garden. Just something that brings you joy and relaxation.
Dave represented the church on Saturday 25/7/26. He was meeting up with other Christians from our area to remember and celebrate William Tyndale 500 years. William Tyndale believed everyone should be able to read the Bible, God s Word in their own language. The authorities disagreed. But the more they burned, the more copies were printed, smuggled into England and placed into the hands of ordinary people. Dave joined the group at Alresford and walked about 4 miles witnessing and finishing in Wivenhoe with a special thanksgiving service to commemorate.

Our Thoughts, Prayers & Praises
Faith in Action: Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see, Hebrews 11:1
We give thanks to the Lord for the many blessings we have received this past month. We sometimes forget to say thank you for answered prayers and for His constant presence with us even when we so easily forget. We are sorry Lord.
We keep this prayer for the Venezuela Earthquake We pray for all the people who are suffering the loss of family, friends, their homes and livelihoods. Lord please help these dear ones and all who are bringing aid in any way to help relieve the suffering.
Just this last week we have heard every day of people and children who have been tragically killed. Some very local and others in different parts of this country. Murders, Drowning, Stabbings, traffic accidents. We are shocked by such events. We remember too, all those who were injured and the lasting effects of injuries that can be difficult to recover from.
Please remember our emergency services whom are called out to such events and who work tirelessly throughout this hot weather bringing help and aid to people in distress.
Please keep in your prayers all the friends we pray for each month, especially during this very hot weather. Many are housebound and have no escape from the heat. We remember Brenda especially who is struggling to breathe in this weather and Judy and David, Val and Geoff, Iris, Shelia and Margaret and Brian. I did manage to pop into see Margaret she was sound asleep but looked well. Brian visits everyday and he was able to tell Margaret I had called in, she was sorry she had missed me. Please keep in your prayers those who have recently lost a loved one and are grieving.
Pray for families during this holiday time and we ask special blessings on all Youth Christian Camp and the volunteers who give up their holidays to serve them. We pray for an anointing of the Holy Spirit and protection for all.
